Settings
A full reference of every setting in SimSweep: what it does, its default, and whether it needs Decrypt.
Settings is the modal you get by clicking the gear icon in the header. Six tabs, one place. Most things save automatically and take effect immediately.
Appearance#
| Setting | Default | Tier | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Theme | Light (or last saved) | Free | Switches between Light and Dark. |
| Decrypt Themes | None | Decrypt | Pick a photo theme or preview a locked one. |
| High contrast mode | Off | Free | Bumps up contrast across the whole UI. |
| Text scale (90% / Default / 110% / 120%) | Default | Free | Scales all text in the app. |
See Themes & appearance for the full theme list and preview behavior.
Scanning#
| Setting | Default | Tier | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Auto-scan on launch | On | Decrypt | Starts a scan automatically when SimSweep opens. |
| Watch for file changes | On | Decrypt | Rescans when files are added or removed from your Mods folder. |
| Include save files in scan | On | Free | Reads your save files to improve used/unused detection. Highly recommended. |
| Auto-backup saves on change | Off | Decrypt | Creates a backup whenever a save file changes. |
| Backup saves on game launch | Off | Decrypt | Snapshots your saves when The Sims 4 starts. |
| Scheduled backups | Off | Decrypt | Backs up saves on a timer while SimSweep is open (every hour, 2h, or 4h). |
Tip: Auto-scan and file watching are gated on Decrypt. If you're on Free, you'll see a prompt to unlock when you try to enable them.
Notifications#
All notifications are free and on by default. Toggle any you don't want.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Scan complete | Notifies you when a scan finishes. |
| New files detected | Alerts when SimSweep spots new mods in your folder. |
| Mod tracker alerts | Shows patch and update-related alerts. |
| 50/50 round ready | Fires after a game close when a 50/50 session is ready. |
| Crash log alerts | Pops up if SimSweep catches a crash or exception while open. |
| Notification sound | Plays a soft pop sound with each notification. |
| Test sound | Plays the sound immediately so you can hear it. |
Diagnostics#
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Automatic crash reports | On | Shows a banner on next launch if SimSweep didn't close cleanly. |
| Recent crashes | (list) | Shows pending local crash records. Empty looks like: "No crashes recorded. Nice." |
Advanced#
Folder paths#
SimSweep auto-detects your Sims 4 folders. The Mods, Tray, Saves, and Game install paths are shown here for reference. If SimSweep is scanning the wrong location, use the buttons to fix it:
- Change Sims 4 folder lets you pick the Sims 4 directory manually.
- Change Mods folder lets you override the Mods path.
- Reset to auto-detect clears any manual overrides and goes back to the detected defaults.
Safe mode#
Disables hardware acceleration and limits scan CPU behavior. Only needed if SimSweep is behaving oddly (flickering, crashes on launch, runaway CPU). A restart is required after toggling.
Caches#
- Thumbnail cache -> Clear removes cached image previews. Frees disk space; thumbnails regenerate on next scan.
- Package index cache -> Clear wipes the scan index. The next scan re-reads every file from scratch (slower, but useful if you think something is stale).
Diagnostic report#
Generate a snapshot of your SimSweep state and copy it to clipboard. Useful when reporting a bug or asking for help.
Folder organization#
The Organize Folder control (sorting by category, creator, or custom rules) is visible here but currently unavailable. Auto-sort is being reworked and will return in a future update.
Access#
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Connect Patreon / Disconnect | Links your Patreon account to verify Decrypt access. |
| Giveaway or trial key -> Activate | Enters a local key for Decrypt access without Patreon. |
| Deactivate key | Removes a previously activated key. |
