Backups, storage & export

Move unused CC to a backup folder, restore it later, check storage and sync state, export a manifest, and export your mod list.

SimSweep has a few different ways to help you manage what is on disk. You can move unused CC to a backup folder, restore it if you want it back, export a snapshot of your Mods folder for record-keeping, or export your mod list in a few formats. Here is what each does and where to find it.

Backup unused CC#

This takes CC that has not been used and moves it to a folder you choose, clearing space in your active Mods folder without deleting anything permanently.

  1. Open the backup flow from Tools or the Home screen.
  2. Review the Safely Backup Unused CC overview.
  3. Press Choose Backup Folder and pick where you want the files to go.
  4. Optionally enable Protect script mod files to leave .ts4script files where they are.
  5. Wait for Moving Files... to complete.

If you change your mind, Undo (Restore) puts the files back.

Heads up: If your Mods folder is inside a cloud sync location like OneDrive, some files may be locked or cloud-only. The backup will work for files that are locally available.

Restore backed up CC#

Bring files from a previous backup back into your Mods folder.

  1. Open the restore flow from Tools or the Backups tab in Storage and Sync.
  2. Review Restore Backed Up CC.
  3. Press Choose Backup Folder and point to the folder where your backup lives.
  4. Wait for Restoring Files... to complete.

Storage and Sync#

Open Tools and select Storage and Sync for a deeper look at your backup and folder state.

Backups tab#

The Backups tab gives you three actions:

  • Backup and Restore runs the same backup flow described above.
  • Reclaim Storage helps identify space you can recover.
  • Restore Backup runs the restore flow.

Manifest tab#

Export a snapshot of your current Mods folder as a manifest file. Later you can import that manifest back and compare it against what is on disk, which shows which files moved, are missing, or are still in place.

  • Export Manifest saves the current state to a file.
  • Import and Compare loads a previously exported manifest and compares it to what is on disk now. Results show each file as Installed, Different Path, or Missing.

This is useful for tracking changes over time or verifying a folder after moving files between machines.

Export mod list#

Export a plain list of every mod in your scanned Mods folder for your own records or sharing.

  1. Open Tools and select Export.
  2. Choose a format: CSV, TEXT, or JSON.
  3. Save the file, or press Copy to Clipboard to grab the list directly.

Heads up: Export needs an active scan. If you have not scanned recently, run a scan first so the list is accurate.

Next up#
