Privacy Policy

Overview
SYVR Studios LLC (“SYVR Studios,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the SimSweep desktop application, the optional SimSweep Companion Mod for The Sims 4, and this website (collectively, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have.
Who We Are
SYVR Studios LLC is a Colorado limited liability company. For the purposes of data protection law, SYVR Studios LLC is the data controller responsible for your personal data.

Install ID
On first launch, SimSweep generates a random UUID and stores it locally on your computer. This install ID never changes, is never linked to an account or your identity, and is never shared with third parties. It is included in crash reports (described below) so we can deduplicate reports from the same installation. It is the primary pseudonymous identifier the app uses.
Access Data
You do not need a SimSweep account to download the app or run scans. SimSweep has two tiers: Free (no sign-in required) and Decrypt (requires connecting a Patreon account that holds an active pledge).
If you connect Patreon for Decrypt access, we receive from Patreon via standard OAuth:
- Your Patreon member ID
- Your display name
- Your email address
- Your membership tier and status
We do not receive or store your Patreon password or payment details.
Google sign-in exists in the Service but is used exclusively by SYVR Studios staff and administrators. It is not available to regular users.
Patreon Subscription Data
Paid Decrypt access is purchased through Patreon. We store your Patreon member ID, subscription tier, pledge status, and related timestamps needed to unlock Decrypt features in SimSweep. We do not store your credit card number or bank details. All payment processing is handled by Patreon.
What Leaves Your Machine
All network communication from the SimSweep desktop app goes to a single endpoint: the SimSweep backend at simsweep-auth.syvr.dev, which is a Cloudflare Worker operated by SYVR Studios. No other server receives SimSweep app data. Scanning your Mods folder is entirely local and no scan metadata or file contents are uploaded.
The following outbound requests happen automatically without you explicitly initiating them:
- Automatic crash beacon: If SimSweep's internal watchdog has to terminate a stalled or aborted scan, it automatically sends a crash report containing: your install ID, up to approximately 60 lines (about 8 KB) of the SimSweep application log (which may include mod file names and paths from your Mods folder), app version, operating system, memory and RAM statistics, which scan phase was running, your library size, your mods file count, whether The Sims 4 was running at the time, a deduplication hash, and timestamps.
- Malware-dismissal beacon: When you dismiss a malware flag in the app, it automatically reports the flagged file's SHA256 hash, the file name, and a one-way reporter hash derived from your machine (not your name or account).
- On-launch requests: Each time SimSweep opens it performs an update check (sending app version and platform), fetches feature flags, announcements, the known-creators list, risk tiers, and the safe-files list. These fetches send no personal data beyond standard request metadata (your IP address, as with any web request). Decrypt users also trigger a key re-validation (sending the key), and Patreon-connected users trigger a token refresh.
The following outbound requests happen only when you take a specific action:
- Crash report (from crash banner): If you choose to send a crash report from the in-app banner, the same contents as the automatic crash beacon are sent, with a longer log tail.
- Bug report: Your written description, an optional name and email if you provide them, app version, OS, the page you were on, and a diagnostic snapshot (system specs, a names-only listing of your Mods folder, scan summaries, and application logs), plus any screenshots you attach. Bug reports are forwarded to a private SYVR Studios Discord channel for triage.
- Decrypt key activation: The key plus a one-way machine fingerprint hash (derived from your computer name and user name) so a key can be tied to one machine.
- Patreon connect: Standard OAuth flow. SimSweep receives your Patreon member ID, display name, email, and membership tier from Patreon. We never receive your Patreon password or payment details.
- Malware report: If you submit a malware report, it sends the file hash, file name, reporter hash, and the detection indicators.
- “Host my mods” interest form: The contact text you type in the form.
Scanning Is Local
SimSweep scans your Mods folder on your computer. All scanning happens locally. No scan results, file hashes, package metadata, or file contents are uploaded to our servers as part of scanning. The only exceptions are the specific, narrowly scoped cases described in the section above: the malware hash sent on a report or dismissal, and the names-only Mods folder listing included inside a voluntary bug report.
Companion Mod Data
If you install the optional SimSweep Companion Mod, it communicates with the SimSweep desktop app through local files on the same machine. It does not import any networking library and does not send data over the internet. All gameplay data the Companion Mod tracks stays on your computer and is shown on your own SimSweep dashboard. This data includes:
- Game state: Current game mode, household name, lot name, and sim names
- Health snapshots: Exception counts, conflict counts, sim debt, and reset counts
- Performance metrics: Object count, sim count, and simulator debt
- CAS outfit data: Outfit slot part IDs, CC filenames, and outfit diffs
- CC health tracking: Per-object incident counts and auto-highlight status
- Broken CC & conflict detection: Runtime detection results with resource key attribution
- Interaction failure data: Failed interaction names, failure types, and sim names
- Session data: Play duration, exception counts by mod, and conflict/flag counts
- CC usage journal: Which CC parts you wear and for how long, CAS try-on behavior, and lot object presence
None of this data is uploaded. It is stored locally and displayed on your SimSweep dashboard only.
The Companion Mod is entirely optional. SimSweep functions fully without it.
Discord Rich Presence
If you have Discord Rich Presence enabled, SimSweep communicates with your local Discord desktop app over a local named pipe only. SimSweep does not send Rich Presence data over the internet. Discord's own client may transmit presence information according to Discord's privacy policy.
Diagnostic & Crash Data
Crash reports (both automatic and voluntary) and bug reports are described in detail under “What Leaves Your Machine” above. Crash and diagnostic data is used only to investigate and resolve technical issues. Bug reports are forwarded to a private Discord channel accessible only to SYVR Studios staff.
The app does not run background analytics or usage tracking. The only diagnostic data transmitted is the crash diagnostics described above.
How We Use Your Data
- Providing and operating the Service
- Verifying Patreon memberships and managing Decrypt access
- Displaying real-time game data on your local dashboard (Companion Mod)
- Diagnosing crashes, bugs, and technical issues
- Deduplicating malware reports and dismissals to improve detection quality
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for advertising.
Third-Party Services
We use the following services to operate SimSweep:
- Patreon - Authentication and membership for the Decrypt tier. Payments are handled by Patreon; we never see card details. (Privacy Policy)
- Google - Staff and admin sign-in only; not used by regular users. (Privacy Policy)
- Cloudflare - Hosts the SimSweep backend (simsweep-auth.syvr.dev) and mod download storage. (Privacy Policy)
- Discord - Receives bug-report submissions in a private channel for triage. (Privacy Policy)
- Vercel - Hosts this website. (Privacy Policy)
Data Retention
- Install ID: Stored locally on your device only. We do not retain your install ID on our servers except as part of crash reports (see below).
- Patreon access data: Retained while needed for Decrypt verification or support, then removed on request where legally allowed. Membership records retained for 7 years for tax and accounting purposes.
- Crash and diagnostic data: Retained up to 90 days after the issue is resolved.
- Malware reports and dismissals: Retained to maintain detection quality; the associated reporter hash is a one-way hash and cannot be reversed to identify you.
- Companion Mod data: Stored locally on your device. Not uploaded or retained on our servers.
- Local data: Stored on your device and managed by you. Uninstalling SimSweep does not automatically delete local data files.
