SimSweep terms of use
Last updated: July 4, 2026
Effective date: July 4, 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and SYVR Studios LLC ("SYVR Studios," "we," "us," or "our"), a Colorado limited liability company operating at syvr.dev. These Terms govern your use of the SimSweep desktop application, the optional SimSweep companion mod for The Sims 4, the SimSweep website at simsweep.com, and related services.
By installing SimSweep or using any part of the service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use SimSweep.
1. About SimSweep
SimSweep is a third-party desktop app for managing custom content and mods for The Sims 4. SimSweep is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Electronic Arts Inc., Maxis, or their subsidiaries. The Sims and The Sims 4 are trademarks of Electronic Arts Inc.
The current desktop app scans and manages local Sims 4 files. It also has optional tools for Game Link, diagnostics, backups, mod profiles, creator-hosted mod access, and update checks.
The current desktop app does not require a SimSweep account, Google sign-in, email sign-in, or an in-app billing portal.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use SimSweep. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use SimSweep only with permission from a parent or legal guardian.
3. Access and paid tiers
SimSweep has three active desktop tiers:
- Free
- Decrypt
- Override
Some features are limited to Decrypt or Override. Override includes Decrypt access.
Paid desktop access is currently verified through Patreon membership or through local giveaway, trial, or staff keys issued by SYVR. Patreon billing is handled by Patreon. If you subscribe through Patreon, Patreon's own terms, billing rules, and refund rules apply to the payment. Patreon memberships renew automatically each billing period until you cancel them through Patreon.
SYVR does not store your full card number, bank details, or Patreon password.
You are responsible for managing your Patreon membership directly through Patreon. SimSweep can verify membership status, but it does not provide an in-app billing portal.
Manual keys are not payment instruments. SYVR may revoke or disable keys that are shared, sold, abused, issued by mistake, or used outside their intended purpose.
We may change feature availability, tier benefits, and prices. If a material paid-tier change affects active users, we will provide reasonable notice.
4. Acceptable use
Use SimSweep only for managing your own Sims 4 custom content, mods, saves, diagnostics, and related files.
You agree not to:
- distribute malware, viruses, or harmful software through SimSweep
- bypass paid feature gates or access checks
- abuse Worker APIs, local bridge endpoints, update services, or report systems
- submit false malware reports, source reports, bug reports, or crash reports
- use automated tools against SimSweep services in a way that harms availability
- impersonate another person or misrepresent your relationship with SYVR
- use SimSweep in a way that violates law or third-party rights
- use SimSweep's creator-hosting or reporting services for activity unrelated to Sims 4 custom content management
We may limit, revoke, or block access if we reasonably believe these Terms were violated.
5. Local file operations
SimSweep can move, copy, rename, disable, quarantine, restore, sort, back up, and delete files in your Sims folders. These actions run on your computer.
File operations carry risk. Backups can fail. Files can be locked by The Sims 4, antivirus software, cloud sync tools, or the operating system.
You are responsible for keeping your own independent backups of your Mods folder, Saves folder, Tray folder, and any other important files.
SYVR is not responsible for data loss, broken saves, lost custom content, game crashes, or system issues caused by file operations, software bugs, user choices, or third-party tools.
6. Scan engine
SimSweep analyzes packages, scripts, Tray data, and optional Save data to classify files, detect conflicts, flag suspicious script behavior, find duplicates, and provide diagnostics.
Scan results are recommendations, not guarantees. False positives and false negatives can happen. Always review results before deleting, disabling, or moving files.
The Scan Accuracy Disclaimer is part of these Terms.
7. Removed browser integrations
The current desktop app does not include a local extension bridge, an in-app download flow, or an active CC Hub.
SimSweep does not collect or submit browser-extension or content-source metadata, and it does not upload your actual .package, .ts4script, Tray, or Save files through those removed features.
Older SimSweep versions (4.0.x) can still submit content-source metadata to a legacy service. The current app does not, and the legacy surface is scheduled for retirement.
If SYVR adds a public catalog, browser integration, or creator workflow in the future, updated Terms may apply.
8. Companion mod and Game Link
The SimSweep companion mod is optional. It runs inside The Sims 4's script mod environment and sends live data to the desktop Game Link view.
Current companion builds use local JSON event and command files under .simsweep/companion. Older companion builds can use the localhost TCP socket on 127.0.0.1:27220.
The companion mod may report game mode, household and lot state, sim state, CAS outfit data, performance metrics, resets, exceptions, route failures, pack data, mod footprint data, and related live game information.
The companion mod can break after Sims 4 updates, conflict with other script mods, or affect game stability. You use it at your own risk. Keep backups of your saves.
9. Bug reports, malware reports, and crash reports
If you submit a bug report, malware report, dismissal, or crash report, SimSweep sends the information needed to process that report. This can include your written description, selected category, screenshots you attach, diagnostic snapshot, recent log context, app version, platform, and selected scan or crash summary fields.
Crash reports are optional from the banner shown after an unclean exit, unless a separate crash path explicitly states otherwise.
Do not submit private information, secrets, or content you do not want SYVR support to see.
10. Updates
SimSweep checks for updates through its built-in updater. Updates can add, change, or remove features. If you do not want to accept updates, your remedy is to stop using or uninstall SimSweep.
The current desktop app is configured for the stable update channel. It does not expose a Beta channel selector in the app UI.
11. Third-party services and content
SimSweep interacts with third-party services and content, including Patreon, Discord, GitHub, Cloudflare, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, creator sites, and Sims 4 custom content sites.
We do not control those services or the content hosted on them. Your use of third-party services is governed by their own terms and policies.
SYVR does not create, endorse, guarantee, or redistribute third-party custom content unless SYVR is explicitly listed as the creator or publisher.
12. Intellectual property
SimSweep, the SimSweep name, SYVR Studios, app code, designs, documentation, and related materials are owned by SYVR Studios LLC or its licensors.
These Terms give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use SimSweep for personal Sims 4 custom content management.
You keep ownership of your own files and content. SimSweep does not claim ownership of your Mods folder, Save files, Tray files, screenshots, or custom content.
If you submit source metadata, reports, screenshots, or feedback, you give SYVR permission to use that material to operate, debug, secure, and improve SimSweep.
13. Disclaimers
SimSweep is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, SYVR disclaims all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, compatibility, and non-infringement.
We do not guarantee that SimSweep will be uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with every system, compatible with every Sims 4 update, or compatible with every mod.
Features that depend on Worker services, Patreon, creator hosting, update services, or third-party sites can fail or become unavailable.
14. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SYVR Studios LLC, its owners, employees, contractors, and affiliates are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages.
This includes:
- lost files, lost saves, or lost custom content
- game crashes or degraded game performance
- inability to use SimSweep or a paid feature
- third-party content problems
- report delays, creator download errors, scan errors, or update failures
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SYVR's total liability for all claims related to SimSweep is limited to the greater of the amount you paid SYVR for SimSweep access in the 12 months before the claim or $50 USD.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent allowed by law.
15. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless SYVR Studios LLC from claims, damages, losses, and expenses that arise from:
- your use of SimSweep
- your violation of these Terms
- your violation of law or third-party rights
- content, reports, metadata, screenshots, or feedback you submit
- disputes between you and a third party about custom content or mods
16. Governing law and dispute resolution
Please read this section carefully. It affects your legal rights, including your right to file a lawsuit in court and to have a jury hear your claims.
These Terms are governed by Colorado law and the Federal Arbitration Act, without regard to conflict of law rules.
16.1 Informal resolution comes first
Before starting arbitration or any court case, you agree to send a written notice of the dispute to info@syvr.dev with the subject line "Dispute Notice." The notice must include your name, your contact information, a description of the problem, and the outcome you want. We will do the same if we have a dispute with you.
Both sides then have 45 days from the date the notice is received to try to resolve the dispute in good faith. Neither side may start arbitration or a court case before this period ends. All applicable deadlines and statutes of limitations are paused during this period. This step is a requirement, not a suggestion, and an arbitrator or court may dismiss a claim filed without completing it.
16.2 Binding arbitration
If informal resolution fails, either side may start binding arbitration through the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. One arbitrator decides the dispute. The arbitration will be conducted by videoconference or by document submission unless the AAA rules require otherwise, in which case any in-person hearing will take place in the county where you live or another mutually agreed location.
Arbitration fees are handled under the AAA Consumer Arbitration Rules, which cap the filing fee you pay. Each side pays its own attorneys' fees unless the arbitrator awards fees under applicable law.
The arbitrator, not a court, decides disputes about the interpretation, applicability, and enforceability of this arbitration agreement, except that only a court may decide whether the class action waiver in Section 16.5 is enforceable.
16.3 Exceptions
Either side may bring an individual claim in small claims court instead of arbitration, if the claim qualifies. Either side may also ask a court for emergency injunctive relief to stop actual or threatened infringement of intellectual property or unauthorized access to services, without waiving arbitration for everything else.
16.4 Your right to opt out
You can reject this arbitration agreement without penalty. To opt out, email info@syvr.dev within 30 days of the date you first accept these Terms, with the subject line "Arbitration Opt-Out," and include your name and the email or identifier you use with SimSweep. If you opt out, the rest of these Terms still apply, and disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Colorado, and both sides consent to venue there.
16.5 Class action waiver
Disputes must be brought individually. Neither side may bring a claim as a plaintiff or class member in a class action, consolidated action, or representative action. The arbitrator may not consolidate claims or preside over any form of class proceeding.
If a court finds this class action waiver unenforceable as to a particular claim, then that claim, and only that claim, must proceed in court rather than in arbitration, and the rest of this section stays in effect.
16.6 Mass filings
If 25 or more arbitration demands with similar claims are filed against SYVR by the same law firm or coordinated group of firms, both sides agree that the demands will be resolved in staged batches under the AAA's rules and procedures for multiple case filings then in effect. Demands not yet in an active batch are paused, and all applicable deadlines and statutes of limitations are tolled while a demand is paused. This keeps individual arbitration workable instead of turning it into a copy-paste filing campaign.
16.7 Jury trial waiver
For any dispute that ends up in court instead of arbitration, both sides waive the right to a jury trial to the fullest extent permitted by law.
16.8 Survival
This Section 16 survives termination of these Terms and your use of SimSweep.
17. Copyright and intellectual property complaints
SimSweep privately stores creator-submitted Sims 4 custom content and serves it through its own service. New creator uploads require the creator to accept a rights attestation. SimSweep does not sell custom content. Scanning otherwise happens on your computer, against files you already have. Creator Shelf can display metadata about hosted custom content, including creator names, source links, tags, and thumbnails.
If you believe material displayed through SimSweep or on simsweep.com infringes your copyright or other intellectual property rights, email info@syvr.dev with the subject line "IP Complaint" and include:
- identification of the work you claim is infringed
- identification of the material you want removed and where it appears
- your name, address, email, and a way to contact you
- a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the rights owner, its agent, or the law
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the rights owner or authorized to act for the rights owner
- your physical or electronic signature
We review complete complaints and may remove or disable access to the identified material. If we remove material you submitted, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you, and you may send a counter-notice with the equivalent information supporting your right to use the material.
We may terminate access for users who repeatedly infringe intellectual property rights.
18. Export controls and sanctions
You may not use SimSweep in violation of United States export control or sanctions laws. You represent that you are not located in a country or region subject to comprehensive United States sanctions and that you are not on any United States government restricted party list.
19. Changes
We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will notify users through the app, the website, or another reasonable channel before the change takes effect, and we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of SimSweep after the effective date means you accept the revised Terms.
Changes to Section 16 do not apply to a dispute that arose before the change took effect.
If you do not agree to revised Terms, stop using SimSweep.
20. Severability
If any part of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the rest remains in effect, except as stated in Section 16.5.
21. Entire agreement
These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the Scan Accuracy Disclaimer are the entire agreement between you and SYVR Studios LLC for your use of SimSweep.
