Getting around

A tour of the SimSweep app shell: the sidebar, header controls, footer scan progress, the product tour, and global modals.

SimSweep has a consistent layout that stays in place no matter where you are. The sidebar, header, and footer are always visible so you are never more than one click from the most important controls.

The sidebar#

The sidebar lists every main destination in the app: Home, Game Link, My CC, Diagnostics, Tools, and Creator Shelf. Click any item to go there. If a scan found issues, a small dot appears next to Diagnostics. If you have quarantined files, a badge appears there too. The Creator Shelf gets a sparkle when something new is available.

The sidebar can be expanded, collapsed to icons-only, or hidden completely:

  • Collapse sidebar shrinks it to icon width so your content area gets more room.
  • Hide sidebar tucks it away entirely. Use Show sidebar (which moves to the header area) to bring it back.

The header#

The sticky header changes its title to match wherever you are. It also holds a handful of controls that stay useful on every screen:

  • Scan / Scanning... starts a new scan or shows that one is in progress.
  • Past Scans lets you load a previous scan report.
  • Search files... appears on My CC for quick file lookup.
  • Connect Patreon shows up when a Decrypt feature is nearby.
  • Settings (the gear icon) opens the settings modal.
  • Back replaces Settings on any detail page opened from a hub card.

If the app is offline, an offline badge appears in the header. Update status also lives here when a new version is available.

The title bar#

The title bar sits at the very top and holds the app name, a share menu, the Report a bug shortcut, and the Take a tour button. Window controls (minimize, maximize, close) are on the right.

The product tour#

New to SimSweep? Hit Take a tour in the title bar. The tour walks through seven steps: SimSweep orientation, Home, My CC, Scan, Diagnostics, Tools, and Settings. You can skip at any step or go back with the Back button.

Tip: The tour is a great two-minute refresher after a major update, not just for first-timers.

While a scan is running the footer shows live progress: the current stage, a percentage, a running file count, and how many files per second the scanner is moving through. You can hit Cancel at any time to stop the scan.

Scan stages you might see:

  • Discovering files
  • Preparing package index
  • Indexing packages
  • Saving package index
  • Reading game module data
  • Analyzing CC
  • Analyzing script frameworks
  • Computing dependencies
  • Scanning tray
  • Scanning saves
  • Generating report
  • Caching previews
  • Indexing TSR library
  • Checking for threats

When the scan finishes the footer shifts to showing the app version, a What's new link, and a Join Discord prompt.

Global modals and overlays#

Several features open as overlays on top of the current screen rather than navigating away. These include Backup, Restore, 50/50, Bug Report, Legal info, the Whitelist manager, and What's New. You can access most of them from the header or title bar.

Heads up: If any view looks empty, run a scan first. Most screens depend on an active scan report to populate. If you have run a scan and something still looks off, check whether the sidebar is hidden and use the Show sidebar control to bring it back.

Next up#

Start your first scan and see what the Home screen shows you.
