The Onboarding Flow
When you open SimSweep for the first time, you'll see a three-step onboarding:
Step 1: Welcome
A quick intro with the SimSweep logo and tagline, styled in brand purple (#7C3AED) accents. Click Get Started to continue, or Skip to sign in if you just want to jump ahead.
Step 2: Features Overview
A rundown of what SimSweep does: smart scanning, easy organization, and real-time sync. Purple accent highlights, staggered fade-in animations. Click Continue.
Step 3: Sign In
This is where you create your account. You've got three options:
- Continue with Google - Sign in with your Google account
- Continue with Patreon - Sign in with your Patreon account (use this if you're a Decrypt or Override subscriber so your tier links automatically)
- Continue with Email - Create an account with an email and password
Pick whichever works for you. If you bought a membership through Patreon, sign in with that Patreon account first so your tier gets picked up. You can link other accounts later.
When you click a sign-in button, SimSweep opens your browser for authentication and brings you back to the app once it's done. If something goes wrong (network issues, cancelled login), you'll see an error message above the buttons with a retry option.
You only see the full onboarding once. After that, the app opens to the sign-in screen directly on future launches.
Linking Accounts
You can connect multiple sign-in methods to one SimSweep account. Go to Settings > Account to:
- Link Google - Connect your Google account for sign-in
- Link Patreon - Connect your Patreon account (this is how your subscription tier gets detected)
- Unlink - Remove a linked provider (as long as you have at least one sign-in method left)
If you signed in with Google but have a Patreon membership, link your Patreon account from the Account page and your tier will activate.
Your Profile
After signing in, you can set up your profile from the Account page:
- Username - Pick a unique username (3-20 characters, lowercase and underscores). Shows as @username in the app.
- Display name - The name shown to other users in the CC Hub and community features.
- Profile picture - Hover over your avatar on the Account page to upload a custom image.
None of this is required. The app works fine without a username or profile picture.
Deleting Your Account
If you want out, you can delete your account from the Account page. This removes your profile, unlinks all sign-in methods, and removes your data from the community features. Local scan data and settings stay on your computer.
